President's Newsletter September 2007...
Dear Fellow Soroptimists
I hope you have all had a very enjoyable summer in spite of the
awful weather and I look forward to seeing you at our next club meeting on Monday 10th September @ Tynemouth Golf Club.
MEETING VENUE
I can now confirm that club meetings will in future be held at the Tynemouth Golf Club unless otherwise
stated
XVIII SOROPTIMIST
INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION 2007 – UNITY OF PURPOSE; DIVERSITY IN ACTION – GLASGOW
It was my very great privilege and honour to have been able to attend my
first International Convention in the company of 1,500 fellow Soroptimist’s,
from all the corners of the world.
It was a great honour to see our own Margaret Alderson on the stage
introducing the winning International Programme Action Projects.
This was Margaret’s last International board meeting as Assistant
Director for Programme Action and she received a standing ovation from all the Board
members in recognition of her work for Programme Action and her chairship of
the International Convention Local Committee.
How lucky are we to have such an inspirational Soroptimist in our
Club and I know that you join me in wishing her the heartiest congratulations for
all her service and dedication.
Please come to the
Business meeting on the 10th September and hear first hand from
Margaret and myself about our experiences at the XVIII International Convention.
